Why We Love Traverse City, MI

There’s something special about living in or visiting Traverse City, Old Mission Peninsula, and Leelanau Peninsula—a connection to the land, the water, and the incredible experiences that make this area feel like home.

One of our favorite things is getting outdoors. Whether it’s hiking Treat Farm Trail with its sweeping views of Lake Michigan, climbing the dunes at Pyramid Point, or spending a peaceful afternoon searching for Leland Blue stones at Van’s Beach, we never run out of breathtaking spots to explore.

Don't foregt about the wine! The rolling vineyards of Leelanau and Old Mission offer some of the best winery experiences in Michigan. A day spent sipping wine at Good Harbor, Shady Lane, Black Star Farms, and Brys Estate is a day well spent—each winery offering its own unique blend of charm, scenery, and, of course, fantastic wine.

Food is another reason we love this region. Whether it’s handmade pasta at The Flying Noodle, a burger at Bubba’s, farm-fresh dishes at Farm Club, wood-fired pizza at The Filling Station, or food truck eats at The Little Fleet, Traverse City knows how to serve up incredible meals that pair perfectly with its laid-back vibe.

Then there’s the National Cherry Festival—a summer tradition that brings the community together with air shows, parades, live music, and, of course, everything cherry-flavored. It’s a celebration of what makes Traverse City truly special.

From the scenic drives along the water to the small-town charm of places like Suttons Bay and Leland, this area never stops amazing us. Whether we’re enjoying an outdoor adventure, sipping wine with friends, or indulging in the best local food, Traverse City and its surroundings will always feel like home.
